Mr. Ravi Garyali graduated with an Hons degree from Haryana Agriculture University. He worked within the banking stream for several Indian and international banks out of London, which continues to remain his second home due to strong family connections.

In the year 1993, he decided to return to India and founded Irrigation Products International Private Limited (IPI) with a view to provide scientific solutions to farmers to enable them to maximise the quantity and quality of their farm yields manage with the meagre water resource. Later, the services expanded to sports turf segment. Today, IPI stands as the leading provider of water management and maintenance solution for outdoor sports played on natural turf.

The motivation to set up the SPRA came from strong realisation of extremely unsafe driving system on Indian roads leading to accidents and fatalities that could be avoided.

Having learnt driving in the UK and being used to driving in the British system, he began to analyse the factors contributing to this road menace. After studying the Indian traffic system in detail, he realised that besides poor infrastructure, the other major reasons happened to be the lack of strict regulations and proper training to Transport Offices responsible for conducting the driving test and issuing driving licences. “There is absolute lack of knowledge and importance to enforce safe and responsible driving, which is mandatory in all developed countries. This combined with lack of safety signages, proper road markings and weak enforcement of traffic laws puts India on top of the list with highest rate of accidents and fatalities,” he opined.

Nearly 70% of the accidents involve young people, leading to economic devastation for the surviving family members, particularly those from working and middleclass.

Currently, our death count stands at 1,51,000 annually, equating to 17 deaths per hour.

Mr. Garyali firmly believes that every citizen and road user should wake up to these stark realities and become a responsible driver for their own safety, safety of the other passengers and any road user.
